In this website and in our history as a people, you will notice many triumphs and trials. The truimphs are harder to find in documentation becasue in ancient times, our history was passed down primarily through griots and story tellers as opposed to books and text. In more recent times the African and those within the African diaspora have usually been either colonized or oppressed by the European, and thus as the popular saying attributed to Winston Churchill says, "History is written by the victors." One of the main goals of Black Existence is to give proper recognition and understnading to African and African-American historical facts, but we also want to take it one step further than that. We want to put this amazing history into perspective of the past, present and future!
